In 2001, Ron Sindelar, Jr. began a career in law enforcement with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Over the past 25 years, he has served in a wide variety of assignments, including Corrections, Patrol, School Resource Officer, undercover narcotics operations, Marine Enforcement, Courts, Field Training Officer (FTO), and as a Resident Deputy Sheriff. Ron is currently assigned to the Colorado River Station in Needles, California. He has called Laughlin, Nevada, home for the past 18 years, where he lives with his wife and family.
Throughout his years in Laughlin, Ron has remained actively involved in his community. He has served with or supported numerous organizations, including the American Heart Association, Kiwanis, PTA, the Tri-State Museum Board, and the Hobo Stew Board. He is also a lifetime member of the Master Masons and Al Malaikah Shriners.
Ron is a lifetime member of several professional law enforcement organizations, including the California Narcotic Officers’ Association, National Sheriffs’ Association, United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association, and Fraternal Order of Police.
Community education has also been an important part of Ron’s service. Over the years, he has taught classes for the Laughlin community on topics including child and adult self-defense, human trafficking awareness, gang awareness, online predators, and drug awareness. His goal has always been to provide children and parents with knowledge that can help keep families safe.
Ron also organized a Tri-State Community Safety event at Mountain View Park in Laughlin, bringing together numerous law enforcement agencies from across the Tri-State area as well as representatives from branches of the United States military. Families were able to visit informational booths, receive free educational materials and giveaways, and learn about child and community safety. Children were also fingerprinted, with parents receiving copies of their child’s fingerprints for their personal records.
One of Ron’s greatest passions is helping young people find positive opportunities and a place where they can belong. With a degree in theatre, he combines his background in the performing arts with the lessons learned throughout his law enforcement career to pursue a simple mission: keep kids off the streets and put them on the stage.
Ron volunteers his time with Ghost Light Youth Theater Company, directing children and young adults and helping them discover the excitement of live theatre. Through acting, singing, dancing, teamwork, and creative expression, he works to help young performers build confidence, develop their talents, make friendships, and discover what they are capable of accomplishing—both onstage and off.
Ron continues his commitment to the community through his involvement with the Laughlin Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). He looks forward to working alongside the organization and the residents of Laughlin to help build a stronger, safer, healthier, and more vibrant community for generations to come.
For Ron, whether wearing a badge, working in the community, or standing behind the curtain encouraging young performers to step into the spotlight, the purpose has always been the same: serving others and helping make his community a better place to call home.
